I think the better question is what don’t we treat? Josh prides himself in his ability to assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of musculoskeletal injuries. He’s treated patients successfully head to toe with anything from chronic headaches to big toe pain and everything in between. If you feel like your pain is coming from a muscle or joint, just ask!
I am often frustrated when patients come to me saying “(insert doctor, physical therapist, chiropractor here)” told me that I will never get better and this is something that I have to live with. Not only is this generally not true, but these words can actually INCREASE your pain. What happens is our nervous system from our brain all the way down to our muscles becomes sensitized and makes it even harder to break the pain cycle! We will talk a lot about this during our sessions.
Have you been told that:
- “You have the worst __(spine, neck, knee, ankle, etc.)________ I’ve ever seen!”
- “Your pain is (arthritis, from getting old, or degenerative disc disease) and you have to live with it?
- “Your pain is all in your head?”
- “Your (insert joint here) looks like it just crumbled on this X-ray”
- “Your only option left is surgery?”
Research shows that just because your imaging (including X-rays, MRI’s, and CT scans) shows certain conditions, many of these are treatable with conservative care. You just haven’t found the right care or approach yet. Imaging is actually POORLY correlated with symptoms and is not good for diagnosis. Imaging is used in the medical field to RULE OUT conditions. Unfortunately many people in the healthcare field don’t educate patients appropriately on this.
You absolutely can get better despite what your imaging says. Here are just a few of the many things I treat but this list is not all inclusive. Please contact me if you’re concerned about any of the following issues:
